There was a time when making a call via mobile phone was considered the most expensive way of communication. Slowly, the time changed and with the entrance of Reliance in the market; the prices fell down. In the next few years, the call pulse changed from minutes to seconds and then came the time when you had to pay only 1 paisa per second call. The mobile bills got reduced, and mobile communication became the ideal way to communicate.
The new plan by Aircel
To counter the present ongoing price war in the market, the companies are introducing new plans almost every week. The big players like Airtel and Vodafone are doing everything possible to retain the customers. Smaller yet relevant players like Aircel are not far behind. The company has recently has launched a new voice call plan. Dubbed as FRC148, the plan will allow the customers to make unlimited on-net call totally free of cost for three months.
What does it offer for off-net calls?
If we talk about the off-net benefits of the plan, there are actually abundant of them. Aircel is offering 15000 seconds per month which translates to around 250 minutes per month. Once the free limit is over, the off-net call rate will be back to Rs.0.30 per minute. The company is also providing free unlimited 2G data for one month.
What is the catch?
Well, there is no company in India which provides an attractive plan without any catch. There are two points that you have to keep in mind while opting for this plan. The first point is that the data comes with a FUP of 500MB. The second point is to take the benefit in a second and third month; you have to recharge the connection with Rs.50/- for any Aircel services.
Statement by the company
Harish Sharma who is the Aircel Regional Manager of North issued a statement on the new plan. He said that the drop in the average selling price of the smartphones and increased the sale in the Indian market to several folds. Every month hundreds of thousands of new customers join the network with a new smartphone.
The number of voice calls and data users has increased tremendously in the last couple of years. The company understands the requirement of the users and this plan will suffice maximum needs of the customers. They can have longer conversations with their loved ones without bothering about the bill.
Reliance Jio entered with a blast in the market. The free services for 3 months, which are now extended till 31st March, made it hard for other companies to survive without rechecking the plans. Even when the promotional time period gets over for Reliance Jio customers, they do not have to pay for voice and messages. It is important for the other companies to come up with some plans that offer free calls and data.
It has to be noted that the plans offered by Jio apply on any network. The voice calls and messages sent to any other network are also free. Until other companies find some way out to counter such offer, it will not be easy for them to compete with Jio in the future.
