Airtel now offers free voice calling as well
The Jio effect is not letting any telecom company in India to rest. Since the official launch of Jio, we are seeing new packages being announced by different telecom companies. On December 1st, Jio announced that it is going to extend the offer period for 3 more months which further forced the companies to come up with a plan to curb the growth of Jio.
The biggest telecom company in India, Bharti Airtel has finally announced new packs for its prepaid customers under which they can enjoy free calling on all networks pan India. The company has announced the plans after Aircel and BSNL.
About the new packs
There are two new plans by Airtel. The Rs.145 pack offers unlimited voice calling on Airtel numbers across India. Apart from it, the users will get 300 MB of 4G data as well. For basic mobile phones, the user will get 50 MB data so that they can use the light versions of social media apps.
The second plan by Airtel is of Rs.345. This pack offers unlimited voice calling on all networks pan India. Apart from this, the users will also get 1 GB of 4G data. Those who do not have 4G phones, they will get 50 MB data to use the light versions of social media apps.
The catch in the packs
This has to be kept in mind that these packs are valid for prepaid customers for 28 days only. After that, the customer has to recharge again. Also, the price of the packs may vary from circle to circle, so it is better to check with the vendor or on the Airtel website for the exact price of the pack.
Statement by the company
Ajai Puri who is the Director of Market Operations (India & South Asia) at Bharti Airtel issued a statement about these packs. He said that this is yet another initiative by the company to provide customers with better-bundled packs so that they can call their loved ones freely without worrying about the call charges. He also said that the packs combined with the superior network strength are hard to match for other companies.
Though the services offered by Jio are free as of now and the company claimed that they have the best network available, there are a lot of problems with the network. As of now, call drop and slow internet are the main issues users are facing. On the other hand, the companies like Airtel have the capacity to accommodate a large number of customers without fail. Jio is slowly improving, and it may take some time for the company to get out of the mess.
Meanwhile, all the telecom companies are trying their level best to find a solution for the Jio packs. The issues between the telecom companies over the interconnecting points are also getting resolved slowly. With time, the services of Jio will improve, and by then, rest of the companies should come with solid plans so that they can retain their customers in the best possible way.
