Alcatel Launched A3 XL with Android 7.0 Nougat


Alcatel is the joint venture of French Company Alcatel-Lucent and Chinese company TCL Communications. The company mainly deals in budget phones and has marked its presence in a number of developing nations. Alcatel started its operations back in 2004. The company is known for the OneTouch series of smartphones.

The company has come up with a new handset that was showcased at CES 2017. Dubbed as Alcatel A3 XL the company has started its new series of phones under mark “A”. The price of the smartphone is USD 200 which roughly makes Rs.13600/-. Its availability and price will vary with depending on the region. The phone will be available in Asia Pacific, Africa, Middle East and Latin America from the first quarter of 2017. The phone will reach Europe in the second quarter, though.

Features of Alcatel A3 XL


The phone comes with a 6-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display with HD resolution at 1280 x 720 pixels. The phone comes with unspecified Corning Gorilla Glass protection and it supports multi-touch as well.

Processor and memory

The phone comes with MediaTek MT8735B chipset along with quad-core processor clocked at 1.1GHz. The phone also has Mali-T720 GPU for better graphics and video playback. It packs 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. You can increase the storage capacity up to 32 GB via microSD card.

Camera specifications

The phone comes with 8-MP rear camera with LED flash module. It supports features like autofocus, touch focus, face and smile detection, HDR and panorama. The phone also packs a 5-MP front camera for selfies and video chat. The front camera also has a LED flash which comes in handy while shooting selfies in low light condition. The phone comes with Single SIM support over 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. Alcatel A3 XL can connect to GPRS, EDGE and LTE networks for mobile Internet. The phone packs a 3.5mm audio jack without FM radio support. It uses microUSB 2.0 for wired connectivity and charging.

Other features

The phone runs on Android 7.0 nougat. The dimensions of the phone are 165.00 x 82.50 x 7.90mm. It packs non-removable Li-ion 3000 mAh battery which can give up to 18 hours of talk time and 250 hours of standby time. Alcatel A3 XL has Proximity, Accelerometer, and Ambient light sensors for better user control. The phone comes with active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. That means it will remove the noise from the surround while have a voice call. It also has preloaded Google apps like Gmail, Chrome, etc.

If we compare other phones in the similar price range, Alcatel could have done much better than the above-mentioned specifications. As per the price, only Android 7.0 and 6-inch display sound justified and rest of the features are similar to an entry level smartphone which is generally available between USD 80 and USD 100. There are a lot of companies like Xiaomi, Intex, and Micromax, etc. which make much better phones lesser price range.
