Android Wear 2.0 Launched: Integrated Google Assistant and Much More


The much anticipated wearable OS, Android Wear 2.0 is officially launched on Wednesday that will definitely provide a boost to the whole smart watches industry. It was almost 3 years when Google unveiled the first version of Android Wear OS, and they are back now with the second version. The latest Android wearable OS came loaded with tons of improvements which cater to the interface, navigation, notification and more. Overall, this OS is been fully redesigned to change the Smartwatch industry mood completely.

Google has collaborated with LG to launch their Android Wear 2.0 OS which will run on two flagship devices of LG. These are LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style. Google has incorporated many more features in the latest wearable OS, and some of them are outlined below.

More functional and better watch faces

The always-on watch face has become more powerful now that let users personalize it their way. The watch face shortcut will allow users to do everything such as contacting with the partner, requesting a Uber drive, reserving dinner in a restaurant, etc. Not just that rather there are many more things to be explored in this watch face.

Google Assistant

Integration of Google Assistant in Android Wear 2.0 is a big improvement definitely. As said above, Users can do everything starting from the reservation in the restaurant, requesting a Uber ride, enquiring for the weather condition and more. This Google assistant can be activated either by pressing the Power button or else by saying ‘OK Google’. So, this hands-free assistant will no doubt do a great help for the smartwatches wearer now.

Google Play

Integration of Google Play inside the watch is another big change that will eliminate the need of being connected to any Smartphone now. The addition of this feature will change the way Android wearer makes use of apps. Applications can be downloaded quickly as Google Play is accessible within the watch. However, this will not be applicable for each and every app. Users will still need the Android app support for some of the applications.

Android Pay

Support for Android Pay in Android Wear 2.0 is another game changer that will work without any Smartphone or internet connection. It just requires a locks screen to offer added security. Users can save their credit card information in the required field while there is also provision for adding multiple cards. That’s it, and it will let users use the Android Pay feature perfectly from their smartwatches.

New way of message response handling

Google has designed Android Wear 2.0 to work more smartly to make things much easier. And this is very true when it comes to responding to a message or notification. When a notification arrives from anywhere such as Facebook, Google messenger or any other platform, users can swipe on the notification to reply. Numerous options are included such as dictating, typing, handwriting along with drawing the emojis as well to reply. With these, users can choose smart replay as well for responding to the notification. This feature is very functional that suggests numerous responses for the received messages.
