When it comes to making the customers happy, Bharti Airtel comes with innovative ways very often. The company has recently crossed the 2 million home broadband users mark. This is an important milestone for the company as Reliance Jio is all set to launch FTTH services very soon. To recall, Airtel has already increased the broadband speed in most of the cities. At the moment in many cities, it is offering speed between 20 Mbps and 100 Mbps.
Free data by Airtel
In the recent press release, the company said that in order to celebrate the successful installation of 2 million broadband connections all around the country, Airtel will offer free data to its customers as a “thank you” gesture. The users will get up to 125 GB of free data without any extra cost. This is a huge step by Airtel as the price per GB will dramatically reduce for the broadband users with this offer.
Under the Airtel Surprise offer, the users will be able to avail additional monthly data. Apart from that, the users will also have free access to Airtel movies which has a huge collection of more than 10,000 Hollywood and Bollywood movies. The services also offer premium TV shows from different genres.
Report by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India
In the recent report issued by TRAI, the top five wired broadband service providers are BSNL, Bharti Airtel, Atria Convergence Technologies, MTNL and YOU broadband. BSNL has the maximum number of subscribers i.e. 9.95 million. Bharti Airtel has recently crossed 2 million marks, and it is on 2.03 million. ATC stands tall at 1.14 million customers while serving only in 5 states. Lastly YOU broadband is gaining popularity quickly and serves in six states.
How to avail the offer?
To avail the offer, you need to log on to www.airtel.in/broadbandsurprises. The page will ask you to submit your broadband ID or landline number with STD code. On submission, it will inform you about the free data that you can claim.
What is the catch?
There is always (or most of the times) a catch with the offer. You need to check the terms and conditions to make sure you are eligible for the offer. In case you have subscribed to the broadband services after 31 December 2016, you are not eligible for the offer. Still, you must be enjoying 100/200 GB data that comes under the “new broadband user offer” by Airtel. If you are eligible for the offer, you have to claim it before 28th Feb 2017.
In the past few couple of years, the number of internet users has increased at an unexpected pace. The main reason behind that is different initiatives taken by the Indian government to encourage people to become more technologically advanced. The telecom companies are trying to take full advantage of the situation and thus providing different offers from time to time. After the launch of Reliance Jio, the competition between the telecom companies has increased to an unexpected level. It will be interesting to see how other companies counter the offer by Airtel.
