CES 2017: Asus Zenfone AR launched: 256GB Internal Memory with 8GB RAM

The Taiwanese Multinational computer hardware and electronics company AsusTeK Computers Inc. sells its products under the brand name Asus. The company deals in computer peripherals, smartphones, laptops, tablets, 2-in-1 and a lot of other products. In the ongoing CES 2017, Asus has launched a number of products. One of them is much awaited Asus Zenfone AR smartphone which comes with impressive specifications. The phone will soon hit the market. The exact date and price for the phone are still unknown.

Features of Asus Zenfone AR

Display

The phone packs a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with QHD resolution at 2560 x 1440 pixels. The display gives the pixel density of 515 ppi, and the screen-to-body ratio is approx 72.6 percent. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and support multi-touch up to 10 fingers.

Processor and memory

The phone comes with Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset coupled with a quad-core processor clocked at different values. The first 2 x Kryo cores clocked at 2.35 GHz and remaining 2 x Kryo cores are clocked at 1.6 GHz. The phone comes in two variants based on RAM that is 4 GB and 8 GB. These variants are further available in 4 different internal storage options that are 32 GB and 64 GB with 4 GB in addition to 128 GB and 256 GB with 8 GB. The Hybrid SIM slot can accommodate either a SIM card or a memory card up to 256 GB.

Camera specifications

The phone comes with a powerful 23 MP rear camera with 3X optical zoom, LED flash module and OIS. The aperture value of the rear camera is f/2.0, and the sensor size is 1/2.6″ while the pixel size is 1 µm. It supports general features like geo-tagging, phase detection autofocus, face detection, HDR and panorama and some advanced features like depth and motion tracking sensors. The phone also packs an 8-MP front camera with aperture value f/2.0. The rear camera can shoot videos at [email protected] while the front camera can shoot videos at [email protected]

Connectivity

The Zenfone AR can support 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE. It also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS as an additional connectivity option. The phone can be used as a hotspot for sharing high-speed mobile internet. It also supports Wi-Fi Direct which allows file transfer between two devices over the single Wi-Fi connection without the Internet. The phone packs 3.5mm audio jack but do not support FM radio. It uses Type-C 1.0 reversible connector v2.0 for wired connectivity and charging.

Other features

The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with ASUS ZenUI 3.0 on the top. It packs a fingerprint scanner for faster access. The phone supports AR and VR as well. It runs on 3300 mAh battery and comes in Black color option. The company is providing Google Drive cloud storage space of 100 GB. The dimensions of the phone are 158.7 x 77.7 x 9 mm and it weighs 170 grams. It supports active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. The phone also packs DTS-HD sound enhancement for better sound quality.
