CES 2017: Lenovo releases update of ThinkPad X1 series

The Chinese consumer electronics company Lenovo has launched a series of products in the ongoing CES 2017 in Las Vegas. The company has announced multimedia controller, Legion Laptops, smart storage, smart assistant, Phab 2 Pro apps, Miix 720 with Lenovo Active Pen 2 and much more. Apart from these, the company has also announced the upgraded versions of ThinkPad X1 series laptops. The series has three different laptops that are ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ThinkPad X1 Yoga, and ThinkPad X1 Tablet.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon

The upgraded 2017 version of the laptop is lighter and smaller than other laptops in the ThinkPad X1 series. It packs a 14.1 IPS display and Microsoft Precision Touchpad and Trackpoint. The company has improved most of the features of the laptop. As per Lenovo, it will give 15.5 hours of battery backup. It offers Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE-A wireless WAN which ensures faster LTE speed. Other connectivity options include ThunderboltTM 3 ports, type-A USB 3.0 ports, and HDMI. The laptop also packs docking solutions with Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C docks.

There are different security features in the laptop which include IR camera with face recognition, Match-on-Chip fingerprint sensor and FIDO-enabled biometric authentication for Paypal. The laptop weighs 1.14 KG, and it will be available in Black and Silver color options.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga

The company has also improved some features in its Yoga laptop. The security features and ports are same as that of X1 Carbon. The battery life has been improved and now it can give 15 hours of battery backup. The laptop comes with 14-inch OLED display along with Intel Iris Graphic processor for better gaming and video experience. The new Keyboard in the Yoga laptop retracts completely thus provide greater stability while using it as a tablet.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet

Lastly, the tablet in the ThinkPad series has also been improved. It comes with a 2-in-1 design. The tablet now offers port expansion. The company has also improved the battery life and now it offers 5 hours extra battery backup.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 Yoga will be available in the market from February 2017. The price of the X1 Carbon is $1,349 (Rs 92,222 approx) and the price of X1 Yoga is $1,499 (Rs 1,02,476 approx). ThinkPad X1 Tablet will be available in the market from March 2017. The price of the tablet is $949 (Rs 64,876 approx).

The company has also launched two gaming laptops in Legion series. Dubbed as Y720 and Y520, the laptops are designed for the mainstream gamers. They come with Intel i7 processors, NVIDIA graphic cards, and 16 GB DDR4 RAM along with Thunderbolt 3 port. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics in the laptop makes it VR ready. The HDMI port can be used to connect the VR headset. The Y720 laptop will be available in the market from April 2017. The starting price of Y720 is $1399 while Y520 will have the MRP of USD 899 and it will be available from February 2017.
