The Chinese company Gionee sells its smartphones in a number of nations. Besides China, it has well-established roots in India, Vietnam, Taiwan, Myanmar, Thailand and Middle East. The company has a number of smartphones that comes under budget and mid-range price section.
Gionee has launched a new high-end smartphone with amazing innards and massive 7000 mAh battery. Dubbed as Gionee M2017 the phone comes with a hefty price tag CNY 6999 which roughly equals to Rs.68900/-. There is one more premium version of the handset available that comes with an Italian custom leather back panel which has the price tag of CNY 16999 that roughly equals to Rs.166000/-. The company’s website is already showing fully booked. The global launch date is not available as of now.
Features of Gionee M2017
The phone features a 5.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with QHD screen resolution at 2560 x 1440 pixels. It gives the pixel density of approx 515 ppi, and the screen-to-body ratio is 74.4%. It supports 5-finger multi-touch and can project 16M colors.
Processor and memory
The M2017 comes with a Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 653 chipset coupled with an octa-core processor that clock at different values. The first 4 x Cortex-A72 clock at 1.95 GHz while the other 4 x Cortex-A53 that clock at 1.4 GHz. It also packs Adreno 510 GPU that assures better graphics and gaming experience. The phone comes with 6 GB RAM along with 128 GB internal storage. The phone does not have any option for memory expansion that means if you need more space, you need to rely on cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive.
The phone has dual camera setup on the rear end. M2017 has 12MP + 1.3MP camera with dual tone LED flash. It supports features like geo-tagging, touch focus, phase detection autofocus, face detection, smile detection, HDR, and panorama. The phone also packs an 8MP front camera. The rear camera can shoot 2160p video at 30fps while the front camera can shoot videos at 1080p at 30fps.
The phone can hold two NANO SIM. It can connect to 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE bands and uses EDGE, GPRS and LTE networks for mobile Internet. The phone also supports other connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. You can use it as a hotspot for sharing high-speed mobile Internet connection with nearby devices. Apart from that the phone also supports Wi-Fi direct that enables you to share files over Wi-Fi without an internet connection.
The phone also supports Bluetooth v4.0 and GPS with A-GPS. It comes with standard 3.5mm audio jack with FM support. The phone supports Type-C 1.0 reversible connector v2.0 for wired connectivity. It also supports USB OTG that means you can transfer the file to or from an external media device like a pen drive etc.
The phone runs on Android 6.0.1 marshmallow with Amigo OS 3.5 on the top. The main highlight of the phone is the massive 7000 mAh battery. It has two batteries of 3500 mAh each. The company claims that it can give 25.89 hours of video playback and 915 hours of standby time. The dimensions of the M2017 are 155.2 x 77.6 x 7.4 mm and it weighs 238 grams. It comes with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button. The phone does not have any 3.5mm audio jack that means the user have to opt for USB to 3.5mm converter or look for a Type-C audio device or some wireless option.
