Google now allows Airtel and Vodafone postpaid subscribers to make Carrier Payments

As the technology is getting advanced, we are looking into more services that we can buy without carrying cash. In many countries, Carrier Billing is very common among other means of payment. In India, Google Play Store offers such service for Idea customers. The postpaid Idea customers can buy apps, books, etc. on Google Play Store and the billing will reflect in the mobile bill. The option was launched back in May 2016.

New carriers added by Google

Now Google has expanded the option for Vodafone and Airtel customers as well. At the moment it looks like Google is making this feature available in different phases as only a limited number of customers can see this option. Moreover, it is only available for the postpaid customers at the moment. There is no word from the company if it plans to expand the services for prepaid customers as well. Google announced in October that it will launch the Carrier Payment option for more telecom companies.

How does it work?

The process of using Carrier Billing is fairly simple. If the option is available for you, a new payment option will appear on the checkout page. Once you complete the purchase, the amount will reflect in your billing with-in 15 minutes. The system makes the purchase easy and smooth. Airtel and Vodafone are the two largest telecom companies in India. The subscriber base of postpaid connection is large and widespread. The new option will definitely make it easier for the buyers to pay without any hassle.

Points to remember

There are a few things you need to take care of so that the process can run smoothly. First of all, you have to make sure that you haven’t exceeded the spending limit in your billing plan. Secondly, your plan should allow the purchase of premium content.

In the last few years, Indians have become more technologically advanced, and they are spending a good amount of money on buying ebooks and apps. The main problem user’s face is the mode of payment. Credit Cards are still sort of a luxury item in India. Most of the users are also not comfortable with giving out bank details and card details over the internet. In that case, if they have the option to pay via Carrier, it will be much easier and safer for them.

Google has always been a pioneer in providing easy options to its customers. Idea customers have enjoyed this service for quite some time and with the extension of the service to other carriers, the user base who buys apps and books will definitely increase.

There are a lot of books, games, and apps which are available for a price on Google Play Store. The new option will let the users buy these products without worrying about sharing information online. This will also make it easier for them to track purchases as everything will be written on the bill.
