The Taiwanese company HTC is well known for computer peripherals and electronic devices. It has launched a number of laptops, smartphones, desktop computers, etc. in the global market. The company started its operations in 1997 and launched the first Android smartphone in 2008.
HTC has recently launched a new handset by the name HTC U Ultra. The company has not announced the exact launch date and price of the phone, however, the phone will hit the market in the month of March 2017. It is available in Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Blue, Cosmetic Pink, and Ice White color options.
Features of HTC U Ultra
The phone comes with a 5.7-inch Super LCD5 capacitive touchscreen display with QHD resolution has 2560 x 1440 pixels. The display gives the pixel density of 513 ppi. It supports multi-touch up to 10 fingers. The phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the 64 GB variant and Sapphire Crystal Glass protection on 128GB variant. The secondary display has the screen size of 2.05-inches, and the screen resolution is 1040 x 160 pixels.
Processor and memory
The phone comes with Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset with quad-core processor clocking at two different values. The first 2 x Kryo cores clock at 2.15 GHz while the remaining 2 x Kryo cores clock at 1.6 GHz. HTC U Ultra also packs Adreno 530 GPU for better graphics and video playback experience.
The phone comes in two variants based on the internal memory. The first one comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage while the second one has 4 GB RAM with 128 GB storage capacity. Both the variants have the option of memory expansion up to 256 GB via microSD card. The problem with the phone is that it does not have a dedicated memory slot that means you can either use expanded memory or Dual SIM support.
The phone comes with 12-MP rear camera with Dual Tone LED flash module. The aperture of the rear camera is f/1.8, and it has a 26mm lens. The sensor size is 1/2.3” while the pixel size is 1.55µm. The rear camera supports features like geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, Auto-HDR, and panorama. It can shoot videos in two different resolutions that are [email protected] in normal speed and [email protected] slow motion videos. The phone also packs a 16-MP front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. It can shoot videos at [email protected] max.
On the connectivity front, the HTC U Ultra comes with Dual SIM support and can connect to 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE bands. The phone also has other connectivity options like WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. The phone comes with NFC support for mobile payment and device connectivity. It packs 3.5mm audio jack and uses Type-C 1.0 reversible connector v3.1 for wired connectivity.
The HTC U Ultra runs on Android 7.0 nougat. The dimensions of the phone are 162.4 x 79.8 x 8 mm and it weighs 170 grams. It packs 3000 mAh battery which can give up to 26 hours of talk time and 312 hours of standby time. The battery supports quick charge as well. The phone packs a fingerprint scanner on the front side along with an inbuilt accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass for better user control.
