Lava launched another budget phone A97 at Rs.5199/-


Lava is an Indian electronics manufacturing company. It has its headquarters in New Delhi, India. The company has its offices mainly in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. Lava has established its roots in other countries like Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Indonesia, Mexico, Middle East and Russia. The products from Lava are considered some of the best in Thailand. A few weeks back, Lava introduced a budget smartphone by the name A56 for the Indian market. The company has announced yet another entry-level budget smartphone with 4G capabilities. Dubbed as Lava A97, the phone has an MRP of Rs.5199/- and comes with a 12-month warranty from the company.

Features of Lava A97


The phone features a 5-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display with SD resolution. The screen resolution is 854 x 480 pixels, and it gives the pixel density of 196 ppi. The screen-to-body ratio is approx 65.8 percent. The display supports multi-touch as well.


The phone comes with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. It runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow. Lava A97 features 1 GB RAM with 8 GB internal storage. The user can expand the memory up to 32 GB via microSD card.


Lava has provided 5 MP cameras with LED flash support on both rear and front end. The rear camera support features like geo-tagging, HDR, and panorama. It can shoot videos at the 720p resolution at 30 frames per second. The LED support in the front camera comes in handy while clicking selfies in low light conditions. The LED flash on the front camera is not common in budget phones.


The phone supports DUAL SIM over GSM network. It can connect to 2G, 3G and 4G bands. For mobile internet, it uses Edge, GPRS, and 4G LTE network. For other connectivity options, it has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The phone has hotspot option which allows the user to share internet connection. The phone also has Bluetooth v4.0 chipset along with GPS connectivity via A-GPS. It has a standard 3.5mm audio jack and supports FM radio as well. For wired connection and charging it uses microUSB v2.0 port.

Other features

The phone has Accelerometer and Proximity sensors for better user experience. The dimensions of the Lava A97 are 145.5 mm x 72 mm x 9.2 mm and it weighs 160 grams. It packs a Li-Ion 2350 mAh battery. The phone comes with audio/video player and editor along with document viewer embedded in the OS. It supports active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. The phone is available in Black, Gold, and Grey color options.

The main competition for the Lava A97 will be handsets like Swipe Elite, Lenovo A2010 and Micromax Canvas A1 that falls in similar price range. There are a few handsets from Reliance Lyf as well which can give tough competition to the handset. Lava has provided its customers with some of the best budget phones in the past. The new handset has some good innards and can easily grab the attention of first-time smartphone buyers. The after sale services matter a lot in India as people often try to get their phones repaired instead of buying a new one in the case of any wear and tear. Lava has a good number of service centers to fulfill the requirement.
