Motorola was once a pioneer in feature phone market. The company launched its first Android based smartphone in 2009 and first Android-based tablet in 2011. The company got split into Motorola Solutions and Motorola Mobiles in 2011. Soon after that, it was acquired by Google and was further sold to Lenovo. Now Lenovo owns the brand name and trying to revive the brand.
Lenovo has launched a new handset under the Motorola brand. Dubbed as Moto M, the MRP of the phone is CNY 1999 which roughly makes Rs.19700/-. It comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back panel and will be available in Gold and Silver color.
Features of Motorola Moto M
The Moto M comes in a full metal unibody design with volume and power buttons on the right side. It has a capsule-shaped rear camera and sports fingerprint scanner right below it. Generally, the company puts the logo below the camera, but in the model, the logo has been pushed to the bottom of the back panel.
The phone comes with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with 16 M colors. The screen resolution of the display is 1920 x 1080 pixels which it gives the pixel density of approx 401 ppi. The display supports multi-touch and has the screen-to-body ratio of approx 73.1 percent.
Processor and memory
The Moto M runs on MediaTek MT6755 Helio P15 chipset coupled with the octa-core processor clocked at different values. Out of 8 cores, 4 x Cortex-A53 cores are clocked at 2.2 GHz while the remaining 4 x Cortex-A53 cores are clocked at 1.0 GHz. The phone also packs Mali-T860MP2 GPU for better graphics, video playback, and gaming experience. It comes with 4 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage which is further expandable to 256 GB. The problem here is that it uses the Hybrid SIM slot for memory expansion that means the user will be able to use the dual SIM connectivity or increase the memory.
The phone packs 16-megapixel rear cameras with an aperture value of f/2.0 and LED flash module. It supports features like geo-tagging, auto focus, phase detection autofocus, touch focus, HDR, and panorama. It can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30 frames per second. The phone also sports an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video chat.
In terms of communication, the phone can connect to Dual SIM over GSM and LTE networks. It uses Edge, GPRS, 3G and LTE networks for mobile Internet. For other connectivity options, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The phone can be used as a hotspot for sharing internet connection as well. It packs a standard 3.5mm audio jack with FM radio support.
The phone runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow. It measures 151.4 x 75.4 x 7.9 mm and weighs 163 grams. The phone packs a powerful Dolby Atoms speaker. It features non-removable Li-Ion 3050 mAh battery that supports fast charging. The phone uses microUSB 2.0 for charging and also supports USB OTG. It comes with an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass sensors for better user control.
