Lenovo launched Phab 2 Pro with Tango support at $199

Lenovo is a Chinese mobile manufacturer has its roots well established in the Global market. From the last few months, there were rumors about a new handset Lenovo Phab 2 Pro that was circulating around. In the month of June 2016, the company finally announced the phone and said that it was launched in collaboration with Google during the month of September. For some reasons, the phone launch got delayed and had finally found its space recently in the online market. The phone is now available for pre-order from company’s website.

The shipping will start from November 1st, 2016. The MRP of the phone is USD 199 which roughly makes approx Rs.14000/- + taxes. The phone is the first Google Tango-enabled smartphone, and it will make use of AR and VR sensors to map the surroundings. With the help of these sensors and Google Tango, the users will be able to interact with the surroundings in virtual reality.

What Google Tango does?

First of all, it is very important to understand the basic functionality of the main selling point of the camera. The Google Tango application helps the device to scan the surroundings and create a 3-dimensional map. The user will be able to the different products right in their house. For example, it will be much easier to check the positioning of the furniture in living room with the help of VR before even purchasing the piece online. There are a lot of games that are being developed based on Google Tango platform. These games will provide an immersive environment for the user to interact with.

The phone comes with 6.4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with the screen resolution at 2560 x 1440 pixels. The display gives the pixel density of 459 ppi, and the screen-to-body ratio is 70.9%. It supports multi-touch as well.

Processor and memory

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro comes with Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652 chipset coupled with the octa-core processor clocked at different values. The first 4 x Cortex-A72 cores are clocked at 1.8 GHz while the remaining 4 x Cortex-A53 cores are clocked at 1.4 GHz. It also packs Adreno 510 GPU for better graphics and gaming experience. It comes with 4 GB RAM along with 64 GB which is expandable via microSD card up to 256 GB using the hybrid SIM slot.

Camera specifications

The main USP of the phone uses its rear camera. It packs a 16-megapixel rear camera with depth and motion tracking sensors. The camera supports features like geo-tagging, touch focus, autofocus, face detection, HDR, and panorama. Lenovo Phab 2 Pro can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 2160p at 30 frames per second. The phone also packs an 8-megapixel front camera with an aperture value of f/2.2 that can shoot videos at 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Communication

The phone uses 2G, 3G and 4G LTE bands for wireless mobile communication. For other communication options, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The phone can be used as a hotspot for sharing high-speed mobile internet, and it also supports Wi-Fi direct. The phone packs 3.5mm audio jack with FM radio support. For wired connectivity, it uses microUSB v2.0 port.

Other features

The phone runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow. The phone has a fingerprint scanner on the back panel. The dimensions of the phone are 179.8 x 88.6 x 10.7 mm and it weighs 256 grams. It packs non-removable Li-Ion 4050 mAh battery and comes in Gunmetal Grey and Champagne Gold color options.
