Lenovo’s Zuk is an online-only smartphone brand. Lenovo launched it in 2015, and the first smartphone was launched for the Chinese market only. With Zuk, Lenovo’s main aim is to attract shoppers who prefer to buy smartphones online. The company has launched a number of great products in the past two years.
Lenovo has launched a new smartphone under the Zuk brand. Dubbed as Zuk Edge, the phone will go on sale first in the Chinese market from Jan 1st, 2017. Based on the RAM, there are two variants of the phone that are 4 GB and 6 GB. The price of the 4GB variant is CNY 2299 while the price of the 6GB variant is CNY 2499.
Features of Zuk Edge
The phone sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display has the pixel density of 401 ppi and the screen-to-body ratio of approx 78.3 percent. It can project 16M colors and supports multi-touch as well.
Processor and memory
The phone features Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset with a quad-core processor clocked at different values. The first 2 x Kryo cores clock at 2.35 GHz while the remaining 2 Kryo cores clocks at 1.6 GHz. It also packs Adreno 530 GPU that gives amazing video playback and gaming experience. As mentioned above, the phone comes in two variants based on the RAM. The first variant has 4 GBR AM and 64 GB storage capacity which the second one has same storage capacity but 6 GB RAM. As the phone does not support expandable memory, you have to rely on cloud services like Dropbox and Google drive for additional storage space.
The phone packs 13-MP rear camera with aperture value f/2.2 and LED flash module. It supports features like geo-tagging, face detection, smile detection, touch focus, HDR, and panorama. It also packs an 8-MP front camera with a same aperture value of f/2.2 for selfies and video chat. Both the cameras can shoot videos at 1080p at 30fps.
The phone can hold two Nano-SIM and can connect to 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and allows file sharing over same Wi-Fi network via Wi-Fi Direct without the internet. You can use Zuk Edge as hotspot device in case you want to share the mobile internet connection with the devices nearby. It also packs Bluetooth v4.1 and can connect to GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, or BDS depending on the region. It uses Type-C reversible connector v3.1 port for wired connectivity and charging.
The phone runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow with ZUI 2.5 on the top. It measures 142.9 x 74.5 x 7.7 mm and weighs 160 grams. The phone packs fingerprint scanner under the home button along with an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, heart rate, and altimeter sensors embedded in the phone. It comes with non-removable Li-ion 3100 mAh battery and supports fast battery charging with Quick Charge 3.0. It comes with a 3.5mm audio jack for audio devices. The phone is available in Ceramic White and Titanium Crystal Black colors.
