With the 2017 Mobile World Congress (MWC) knocking the door, rumors regarding new electronic devices are surfacing each and every day. While Samsung is expected to explore a new world with Foldable Smartphone, Nokia is doing something different to capture the Smartphone market. HMD Global, the current owner of Nokia is reported to file for a trademark that renowned N-series name. No one can forget that much popular Nokia N-series which came with excellent design and high-quality hardware. They have also ruled the Smartphone market once which was very iconic. But with time the device was lost as several other companies made a revolution in the Smartphone industry.
According to the website of Trademark office of SAIC (State Administration for Industry and Commerce) in China, HMD Global has already filed for a trademark. The latest leak while suggested that the company is working on the mid-range Smartphone to bring back the glory of Nokia N-series. It is rumored that new N-series will be named after N95. However, still we are in confusion and only the upcoming technology fair set to happen in Barcelona can clear everything definitely.
Talking about the older N95 model, it was a multimedia Smartphone. The company focused more on the music, video and camera capabilities in that device. And as no touch screen was developed by then, so, the device could be opened from the top side as well to show physical music play buttons. Even though all these stuff is really very common in the Android based Smartphone these days, but still it will be interesting to see how HMD come up with its old portfolios.
The last N-series developed by Nokia was the Meego-based N9 model. It was followed by Nokia 950. However, Nokia N950 was the developer based smartphone that was not developed for the mass retails. The company released it in 2011 which had a 4 inch LCD display and QWERTY keypad.
The new Nokia N-series is expected to reach powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 series. It is also reported that HMD Global is ready to start their mass production and targets to come up with 50 million units in the first batch itself. However, any other information regarding features and specs is not yet revealed anywhere. A leaked image of the smartphone’s frontline is another thing that fortifies the rumor even more.
However, not just this N-series rather Nokia is heard to unveil three smartphones in the 2017 MWC and one of them is expected to be Nokia P1. This will be another iconic device to reveal the full potential of the company.
The N-series from Nokia was first introduced in 2005 while touch screen was out of imagination. The devices were powered with Symbian mobile operating system. It was so popular during then that the company is trying to gain back that similar fame. However, the N-series was then soon replaced by Lumia series as Microsoft brought them with Windows Phone operating system.
