Now it’s Idea’s turn to give free voice calls pan India

It looks like all the telecom companies are now going to follow Jio and will provide free calling nationwide. After announcements are done by Airtel, Aircel, and BSNL, now it’s time for Idea to follow the lead. The company has announced two packs just like Airtel to serve its customers. The new plan will not only provide free voice calling but will also include free 4G or 2G data.

The plans announced by Idea

The Rs.148 plan will allow the customers to make unlimited free calls to other Idea users across India. The pack comes with 300 MB 4G data. In case the user is not using a 4G enabled phone, he or she will get 50 MB of 2G data.

The Rs.348 plan is much better than the latter one. It allows users to make free voice calls on any network. The pack comes with 1 GB of 4G data. This pack will also provide 50 MB 2G data in case the user does not have a 4G phone. Both the packs have a validity of 28 days.

You should keep in mind that the price of the pack’s changes from a circle to circle. It will be better if you can have a word with customer care or check the website of the company for the price of unlimited calling packs in your circle.

Statement by the officials

Shashi Shekhar who is the Chief Marketing Officer of Idea Cellular issued a statement about the packs. He said that the residents of India are in festival mode these days. They want to stay connected with their loved ones, and it is Idea’s responsibility to provide the best and cheapest services to its customers.

The price war in the telecom sector started with the entry of Reliance Jio. The company is offering free data, calls, and messages until 31st March 2017. In the last two months alone, Jio has crossed 50 million user marks which are alarming for the other telecom companies. In the last two months, almost every telecom company has come up with one or another plan to counter the effects of free data and voice calls by Jio.

Apart from Idea, Airtel, BSNL and Aircel are also offering free unlimited calls. On the other hand, Vodafone has decided to provide additional data benefits to all its users. The overall benefit is going to be in favor of the customers as these companies will take more steps in the future to stay strong as a major competitor.

What else is happening?

However, in other news, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has said that the call drop rate is much higher than the allowed limit. TRAI is going to hold a meeting with all the telecom companies in the coming week to determine the options.

In the last 2 months, the users who are trying Jio services have complained about call drop and slow internet. While Jio is working on improving the network strength, other telecom companies are working on the plan to retain as many customers as possible in coming days. The 4G price war has also increased the sale of 4G enabled phones especially in the budget section which is good news for manufacturers as well.
