Philips launched Xenium X818 smartphone: 3GB of RAM, 5.5 inch HD display


The Dutch company Philips has established its presence in the global market with electronic products ranging from TVs to fridge, music system, DVD players, smartphones, kitchen appliances and much more. The company’s presence in the global mobile market is not that strong, but it has some amazing smartphones under its belt. The company has launched a new phone by the name Xenium X818 in Russian market at the MRP of 23990 Rubles which roughly makes Rs.25600/-.

In terms of design, the phone has glass metal unibody. It features a 5.5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display with soft blue LED technology. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels with the pixel density of approx 401 ppi.

High end processor and other innards

The phone features a MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset with 2 GHz octa-core processor. It also packs Mali T860 GPU for better graphics and video experience. The phone packs 3 GB RAM coupled with 32 GB internal storage which is further expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card.

Strong on camera front as well

On the camera front, Xenium X818 comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash module and 8-megapixel front camera for selfies and video chat. The rear camera supports features like autofocus, touch focus, face detection, geo-tagging, HDR, and panorama. Both front and rear cameras can shoot videos up to 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Multiple connectivity options

For connectivity, the phone has numerous options. In terms of mobile connectivity, it can connect with 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. While in the case of wireless connectivity for internet and device to device file transfer, it has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The phone also has support for GPS which comes in handy in a number of different apps and while looking for maps.

The phone has a fingerprint scanner under the home button. It runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow. The dimensions of the Xenium X818 are 153.5 x 76 x 6.95 mm and it weighs 167 grams. The Xenium X818 is backed by a powerful non-removable Li-ion 3900 mAh battery. It packs light, proximity and accelerometer sensors for better user experience. The phone comes with a standard 3.5mm audio jack and also has FM radio support. Xenium X818 supports active noise cancellation with dedicated mic for better voice experience during the calls. It is available in Champagne color option.

Philips is known for the high quality of innards in its products. It has established itself as a pioneer in the electronics market and worked really hard to rise among the top companies around the world. The different electronic products by Philips have gained immense popularity in the past especially the audio section.

Though the company has very less number of smartphones in the market but all of them have been well received. The main competition for the latest handset Xenium X818 will be with the companies like Samsung and LG. There are very few handsets in this price range with that much processing power, and it will be interesting to see how consumers will receive it. There is no word about the global launch of the phone yet.
