Remember when reliance was first introduced, it launched wireless landlines based on CDMA technology? Well, the company took the game to whole new level. Anil Ambani’s Reliance Communication has announced the first 4G LTE HomePhone in India. The phone comes with built-in SIM and supports VoLTE based voice calls. If you think that the company might have missed the 4G Internet as this is a landline well they didn’t. It has inbuilt Wi-Fi capabilities which allow it to become a hotspot. It can share high-speed 4G connection with up to eight devices.
Price and plans
Let’s talk about the pricing. The company has not revealed the price as well as the availability of the phone. There is much chance that the 4G plans will be close to the 4G plans introduced by Reliance Jio. As per the allegedly leaked reports, both pre-paid and post package may be available in Reliance’s 299 and 499 fixed wireless plans which are also known as FWP.
The Smart Life 299 Plan
As per the reports, the user has to pay a rental of Rs.299/- for this package in which will give 300 minutes of free calls along with 2 GB of 4G data.
The smart life 499 Plan
If we believe the reports, the user will pay 499 as a rental, and he can avail up to 300 minutes of free calling along with 4 GB of 4G data.
Now, the plans mentioned above are quite different from the Reliance Jio which might not be good in long run. Those customers who are looking for high-speed 4G connection and the benefits of having a landline phone may choose it.
Features of the 4G LTE HomePhone
The phone has a 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen which gives it a whole new look. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. There is a numeric pad which can dial the number and access some features of the phone. You can also send SMS from this phone. One interesting feature of the phone is that it can cascade Youtube videos to a Smart TV. This feature will come in handy who loves to watch Youtube videos on a large screen. But with the less data as mentioned in the plans, this feature may go to waste for most of the users.
Reliance Communications still deals in 2G and 3G technology, but the market of such phones is not huge. The company will try to tout the 4G capabilities to sell these devices. In the launch statement, they used “Live life wire-free and buffer-free with India’s first 4G LTE HomePhone”. It looks like the company is targeting customers on the base of 4G LTE and VoLTE technology.
There are lots of users who do not prefer to have a mobile with them and want something as simple as a landline. These users will be able to use this phone and enjoy the high-speed internet as well. It will be hard to imagine how much market this phone can grab but it is a good option.
