Reliance launched the Jio’s trial services around a year back when it realized that there are very few affordable 4G handsets in the market. To ensure that every citizen of India should be able to us the services provided by Jio, it launched a new brand by the name Lyf Mobile in 2016. Lyf mobiles come with Jio welcome offer and Reliance Jio apps. There are four sub-brands of Lyf mobile by the names Earth, Water, Wind, and Flame. However, the company is now also launching phones out of these sub-brands.
Reliance Retail has announced a new phone by the name Lyf F8. The Dual SIM phone supports 4G VoLTE and has the price tag of Rs.4199/-. The phone is available in all retail stores across India.
Features of Reliance Lyf F8
The phone comes with 4.5-inch FWVGA touchscreen display with the screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The display gives 218 ppi of pixel density, and it supports 2-finger multi-touch as well.
Processor and memory
At the mentioned price, it will not be wise to expect a lot from the phone in terms of processing power. It packs a very basic Snapdragon 210 chipset coupled with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. The phone features 1 GB RAM with 8 GB internal storage which is further expandable to 128 GB via microSD card.
The phone comes with basic camera setup with limited options. The phone has an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash module. It supports features like autofocus, touches focus, geo-tagging and panorama. The rear camera can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 720p at 30 frames per second. However due to low processing speed and basic sensor, the quality of photos and videos may not look extraordinary. The phone also packs a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video chat.
In term of connectivity, the phone supports Dual SIM and support 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE bands. However, the Jio SIM has only 4G connectivity available in most of the regions. The phone can connect to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS as addition connectivity options. It packs standard 3.5mm audio jack with FM support. The phone uses microUSB 2.0 for wired connectivity, and it supports USB OTG as well.
The Lyf F8 runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow, but it is hard to imagine how only 1 GB of RAM will be sufficient for this OS in the long run. The dimensions of the phone are 132.60 x 66.20 x 9.30 mm and it weighs 138 grams. The phone packs a non-removable Li-ion 2000 mAh battery. The phone also supports active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. It comes with Jio apps like Jio Music, Jio Chat, etc. The phone also has audio/video player and editor along with document viewer. The smartphone comes with “Swift Gesture Control” feature that can launch the camera app, control the music player, and access apps even from lock screen using gestures. It is available in Black and Blue color options.
