Oppo R7 Plus
Competition in the market of mid-range phones is certainly gearing up as smartphone makers come up with more features packed in an affordably priced phone. Oppo R7 Plus is an addition to the mid-range phones, and it boasts of some high-end features as we explore the phones specifications. The Chinese phone company, Oppo, has started expanding its markets internationally. The R7 is followed by the R7 Plus, which stands taller than its predecessor although most of its key features remain unchanged.
The Oppo R7 Plus has a beautiful metallic body that adds elegance to its design, and the uni-body comes in silver and gold. A fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone is perfectly placed for your index finger to reach out to it. The 6-inch screen may seem big for people who are looking for petite phones. The Oppo R7 Plus curves at the edges, giving it a well-rounded finish. At about 147g the phone seems quite light given its huge dimensions.
The power button is on the left of the phone while the opposite end houses the volume rocker. A 3.5mm headphone jack sits on the top of the phone. The camera is placed above the fingerprint scanner.
The phone is unexpectedly large for many users so single-handed operations may turn flimsy especially if you are not used to large phones. The fact that it is just 7.8 mm thick makes it lighter which helps when using it single-handedly.
Oppo R7 Plus has a large 6-inch display. The 6-inch screen provides a good viewing experience. The Super AMOLED panel has a 1080p resolution with 367 PPI pixel density that gives the display a decent look. The phone does well even under bright sunlight, but you may have problems with the viewing angles in the bright light. While the display is appropriate for an affordable phone, it cannot be compared to the resolution provided by high-end phones like the Samsung Galaxy S6.
The Oppo R7 Plus is Powered by a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor along with 3 GB RAM, Oppo R7 Plus performs fairly well with this chipset, and you would hardly encounter any lag while playing games or watching videos.
The internal storage capacity of the Oppo R7 Plus is 32GB, and you can extend it to 128 GB through external memory. The dual-SIM device will end up using one slot for the microSD card which means you can choose to have to SIM cards or just one SIM and one microSD card.
The massive phone houses an equally large battery of 4,100 mAh. Oppo R7 Plus battery will have sufficient to use your phone substantially the whole day without looking for a charging station. Oppo uses fast charging technology, so you do not have to keep the phone charging for long hours to power the huge battery. The VOOC charger is included in the phone’s accessories, and the technology allows you to charge the phone very quickly. Approximately 5 minutes of charging time can give your phone two hours of battery life while being used regularly. This is very helpful especially for a phone as big as the Oppo R7.
Oppo R7 Plus comes with Android Lollipop and Oppo’s ColorOS on top. The skin provides the phone a UI which does not have any app drawers which means that all your apps are available in the home screen. While those who prefer customizing the app drawers may find this a little unwanted to have all the apps in one area. You can group your apps in separate folders if you are in the habit of using a well-organized screen.
An interesting feature of the launcher is the gesture control that allows you to draw certain gestures on the screen when it is off so that you can open a particular app or service. You have the option to add gestures to open apps or functions of your choice.
The camera specifications do not vary from the R7. The Oppo R7 Plus has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. With Schneider-Kreuznach optics and an LED flash, the 13-megapixel rear camera shoots excellent pictures and videos.
Pictures taken in low light are also fairly decent, but you may notice the shutters getting slower when capturing pictures in dimly lit areas. Users have the option to swipe between different modes easily. The front facing camera provides equally good results when clicking pictures or shooting a video.
The Oppo R7 Plus houses its speakers at the back of the phone this means that you may end up muffling the sound if the speakers are covered by your palm. The sound quality is good, but music lovers may find areas of improvement. The incoming and outgoing calls are good with clarity of voice.
The fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone has been placed so that the index finger can easily reach it. Smartphone users who are not used to large phones may take time to get used to the placement of the fingerprint scanner.
It has been noticed that not reaching the scanner correctly may lead to failed recognitions. So you may end up placing your finger on the scanner a couple of times before it recognizes you. Although this may sound cumbersome, regular use of the scanner will automatically ease the task for you as you will have a better idea of the finger placement.
Oppo R7 Plus
"To conclude, the Oppo R7 plus is a mid-range phone when we consider the price of the device. In all other ways, the phone offers a lot in features and has more advantages than areas of improvement. For those who love the big-screen appearance at an affordable price, the Oppo R7 Plus is going to fit your needs perfectly. If you are not a fan of custom launchers, you may find the phone a little undesirable with its own skin, ColorOS. Apart from the launcher there is hardly any feature of the phone that belies its outstanding price range. The excellent battery life adds to the worthiness of the phone, while the processor and the camera are equally great."
