Review: Samsung Galaxy S6 – Detailed Review

The new Samsung’s Flagship phone Samsung Galaxy S6 designed with two goals in mind. To come up with a good competition for the current iPhone model (iPhone 6) and at least partially improve the sales of the Samsung smartphones since the previous model Samsung S5 sales were less than satisfactory which many believed to be a significant problem for the company. Samsung created a waterproof phone that not really needed by those who were ready to spend a lot of money on the device. So in 2015 Samsung concentrates on metal, glass, and possible excellent feature.

Build and Design

The Galaxy S6 turned out to be rather compact considering its screen size. The sizes are 143.4×70.5×6.8mm. The weight – 138g. For comparison (S6 EDGE – 142.1?70.1?7 mm, 132g). It feels good in your hand and doesn’t slip. The side frame and the back panel made of metal. Samsung paid particular attention to the durability of this smartphone. It cannot be bended even if you exert serious pressure. Durability especially underlined at the device’s presentation. Since the manufacturer decided that this model must satisfy all kinds of customers, it is made in many different colors (White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz). In order to achieve that the back part is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The same glass installed on the front. In order not to get mixed up Samsung calls this glass – 4th generation glass. But in reality it is different from what other manufacturers use (less scratches, more integrity to falls, which is very important). We can call this glass Gorilla Glass 4+.

Thanks to the glass all the colors seem metallic and look very beautiful in the sun. However, fingerprints are very visible on this glass. In bright sunlight, they are not obvious but if you go inside you will definitely notice them.

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 is stacked with great features. Let’s start from the beginning. The phone has the following Sensors Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, fingerprint, compass, barometer, heart rate, SpO2.

– Wireless charging (Qi/PMA) – market dependent
– ANT+ support

– Document editor
The device features a non-removable Li-Ion 2550 mAh battery with the talk time up to 17 hours (3G) and music play up to 49 hours.

Samsung started to simplify TouchWiz, and it is very noticeable on Android 5. Here Android is not completely clean but a lot of bloatware app has deleted. Some useful and not very useful. Let’s look at some of them:
With the new functions added the system started to look rather simple and easy to use. For example, some icons now have additional features. On Wi-Fi icon part of the Wi-Fi network name is shown. It is something small but pretty useful. Also in the S-Finder feature the search can be better arranged. It is a good search engine for the device.

Application S Health completely updated. There are new motivations (go farther, do more). The sensor on the back side of the phone is used to measure pulse, the oxygen level in the blood, stress and emotional level.

The Galaxy S6 has 5,1 -inch SuperAMOLED display with 577-ppi and 2560?1440 resolution. There are an automatic brightness adjustment options. This one of the best Samsung displays There is the traditional color tuning. Which means every user can adjust colors the way he or she wants. From saturated to dull. Professionals, who test such displays, believe that AMOLED-matrixes in the previous models became excellent in color rendering. In this device, the screen quality became even better. Galaxy S6 Backlight brightness is improved so it is easy to read in sunlight. This is probably the best display improvement over the last year. So we can easily say that Samsung Galaxy S6’s display is the best available on the market.

The primary camera on Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphone is 16 MP, 2988 x 5312 pixels, optical image. It offers stabilization, autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, Auto HDR, panorama. The frontal camera is 5 MP [email protected], Offers dual video calls and Auto HDR.

The most interesting part of this smartphone is, of course, the primary camera. Usually the optical zoom in smartphone cameras is much worse than in regular cameras. However, equality of the matrices in this device reached such a high level that the zooming can be done practically without losing any picture quality.

If we look at today’s smartphone markers, we can easily say that Samsung Galaxy S6 is the best available camera phone. It is obvious that it outdid the competition.

Samsung Galaxy S6 is probably the fastest smartphone that we have tested. It is interesting that in the US Samsung has been using Qualcomm Snapdragon processors on its flagship phones. In Asia, they have been using Exynos processors. So now this processor is included into the new flagship everywhere. And it seems like a very good idea. Exynos – 64-bit processor. Just like that Snapdragon 810 Exynos uses ARM’s big.LITTLE. Which means that the quad-core CPU can work with a lower-power 1.5GHz-quad core.

Game playing is extremely fast here. You can forget about the delays and stutters. The processor works very well. So the performance is really excellent.

The performance is good for the money. We can give it a 9 out of 10 rating without thinking twice. Multitasking here is top notch!

The overall impression is fantastic. The Galaxy S6 is an excellent smartphone. It is great for the money. We can easily say that competition does wonders for the manufacturers of the devices.
