The South Korean electronics giant Samsung has been in a lot of trouble lately. Due to manufacturing defect in the Galaxy Note 7, the company has not only lost a huge chunk of revenue, but the market share has also been all time low. The profits are bad for the quarter; reports are suggesting that 50% Note 7 owner may shift to iPhone and the whole faith the company has built for the mobile phones has been tarnished. Samsung recalled the sets, issued new handsets which again exploded and finally after recalling the replacements the Note 7 production was completely stopped. Now, Samsung is completely concentrating on another flagship model Samsung Galaxy S8 and trying to learn as much as possible from the disaster it went through.
The leaks related to Samsung Galaxy S8 Display
The new flagship model may see the market in February 2017. Samsung will try to keep the spirits up and launch the best possible model so that the loyalists’ mood may get better. The latest leaks about the phone suggest that Samsung will bring S8 with an OLED display with very little or no bezel. According to the latest report in The Investor, the new flagship model is going to have full edge-to-edge OLED display with 90% screen-to-body ratio. That means the OLED display will consume the front side of the phone and only 10% of it will have the metal body.
The OLED display is becoming more popular with time. Apple is also considering shifting the display to OLED in iPhone 8 as suggested by recent reports. Park Won-sang is Samsung’s mobile engineer. He hinted some light during IMD display exhibition in Seoul. He said that the company might be concentrating the efforts on innovating with a better display. According to him, the company is investing a lot in considerable resources related to the display technology.
Other leaked information about the S8 innards
As per the rumors, the phone will carry dual curved edges. The rumors suggest that the phone will come with an optical fingerprint scanner. This will enable the display to scan for the fingerprints. This falls in the right perspective with the rumor of 90% screen-to-body ratio. The new technology will remove the need for a home button on the front panel.
The phone may come with a 5.5-inch display with a 4K resolution. The screen resolution can be 3840 x 2160 pixels with the pixel density of 806 ppi. In terms of processing power, the phone may have Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 SoC with an impressive 6 GB RAM. The other innards may include a 16 megapixel and an 8-megapixel dual camera setup on the rear end. The phone will be thinner than most of the phones. It will be better in terms of processing. Also, it will come with enhanced artificial intelligence services.
The overall rumors about the phone are too good. Though when it comes to Samsung, the company actually has the potential to pull off a phone with such specifications. It will be a great opportunity for Samsung to regain the trust of its customers.
