Since the entry of Reliance Jio, the price war over 4G has seen interesting ripple effects in the Indian Telecom market. Few major players in the Indian Telecom Industry are active from last many years. Airtel being the biggest telecom market share holder have to take some drastic steps to counter the effects of Jio’s entrance. Vodafone, Idea, Aircel, and BSNL have lesser number of subscribers in comparison to Airtel but have faced the heat too much extent.
The 4G war has come to a little bit of halt right now as most of the companies have introduced attractive 4G packs for new and existing customers. The new 4G packs have bought companies like Airtel and Vodafone in much better position in comparison to that of the month of September. Now all companies are working on the other offers by Reliance Jio. The company has already announced that even after the promo period, the company will not charge extra for voice calls. This will be a major issue for other telecom companies as most of the revenue comes from voice calls.
Now, it has to be noted that most of the companies have average revenue of Rs.100-150 per user to stay in the profit. That means if the company can get the user to sign-up for that much amount, it will remain in profit and will not lose the customer as well. So, it was a wise decision to come up with 1-2 plans to offer free local and national calling to the customers.
The unlimited calling plans by Airtel
Airtel is offering two packs that allow users to enjoy unlimited calling on the local and national network(s). The first one costs Rs.145. This pack allows the user to call on Airtel network across India without spending any extra money. It also provides free 300 MB of data.
The second plan that Airtel offers is the Rs.345 one. In this plan, the user can make an unlimited free call to any network across India. The user will get 1 GB 4G data. In case the user does not have 4G handset, he will get 50 MB 2G data so that he can surf the light versions of websites.
The validity of the pack is for 28 days. The price of the pack varies from circle to circle. It will be better if you check the price of the pack in your circle from Airtel helpline or website.
The unlimited calling plans by Aircel
Unlike Airtel, Aircel came up with only one plan. It offers free unlimited calling on Aircel network at a price of Rs.148. Dubbed as FRC148 this plan allows the user to call on any Aircel number across India. For the off-net calls, the company is offering 15000 seconds which is equal to 250 minutes.
Once you exhaust the free limit of off-net calls, you will be charged Rs.0.30 per minute. The pack will also provide unlimited 2G data. This pack is valid for 3 months. However, the user has to recharge the number with Rs.50 in second or third month for any services to continue to enjoy the pack. Also, the data usage comes with a cap of 500 MB.
The unlimited calling plans by Idea
Just like Airtel, Idea has also come up with 2 packs. The first plan is of Rs.148. Under this plan, the user can make unlimited calls to Idea network across India. The user will also get 300 MB of 4G data with this pack.
The second plan that Idea is offering is for Rs.348/-. The user can make an unlimited voice call on any network across India with this plan. It offers 1 GB 4G internet as well. In case the user does not have a 4G plan, he will get 50 MB 2G data.
The validity of the pack is for 28 days. Once validity is over, the user can recharge the number with the same plan to enjoy free calling. The price of the packs is different in every circle. Please check for the price via customer care or website.
The unlimited calling plans by BSNL
The state-run telecom company BSNL has announced just one plan like Aircel. But there is a major difference between the plan of Aircel and BSNL. The company is offering unlimited calling on all networks at just Rs.149. Also, the user will get 300 MB of data. Apart from that BSNL is also giving 100 free messages which are missing from the plans of all the companies.
BSNL is going to use its fiber optics network to reduce the cost of interconnection points. The validity of the pack is for 28 days just like the other telecom companies. The price of the pack may vary from circle to circle.
The unlimited calling plans by Vodafone
Vodafone became the last company to announce the free calling plans in the market. While other companies were busy in announcing the unlimited calling packs, Vodafone was busy in providing double data benefits to its 4G customers. Now the company has announced two packs for unlimited calling.
The first one is of Rs.144 which may go up to Rs.149 depending on the region. It offers free calling on all networks along with 300 MB 4G data. The second plan is of Rs.344 which may go up to Rs.349. The user can make unlimited calls on all networks, but the data benefit is 1 GB in this pack. The validity of the packs is 28 days.
|Company||Pack One||What it offers|
|Airtel||345||Unlimited all networks + 1 GB data|
|Aircel||148||On-net unlimited + off-net 15000 sec + unlimited 2G|
|Idea||348||Unlimited all networks + 1 GB data|
|BSNL||148||Unlimited all networks + 300 MB data + 100 SMS|

The companies have launched the packs to counter the offers by Reliance Jio. It will be interesting to see how Reliance Jio will react to the step by these companies and what else it can offer to lure more customers.
