Vobizen Wise 5 launched at Rs.499 – Another Freedom 251?

It seems like selling mobile phone below Rs.500/- for publicity has become a trend. After the mishap called Freedom 251, the ChampOne came and now it is the time for Vobizen Wise 5. According to the company’s website, the phone is now up for pre-order. Vobizen Mobiles is an Indian company that has its headquarters in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Interestingly, there is not much information available on the company anywhere online, not even on their website. The website only has information about the mobile phone along with a shopping cart. Anyway, the original price of the mobile phone is mentioned as Rs.3499/- on the website and Rs.499/- looks like a promotional offer. The company claims that the phone will be delivered with-in 22-28 from the date of order.

Features of Vobizen Wise 5

The phone comes with a 5-inch FWVGA touchscreen display with the screen resolution at 854 x 480 pixels. It supports 2-finger multi-touch.

Processor and memory

Vobizen Wise 5 features a quad-core processor clocked at 1 GHz and packs 1 GB RAM along with 8 GB internal memory. The storage capacity is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card. There is no information on the website if the phone has a dedicated card slot or not.

Camera specifications

At the mentioned price, even if you are getting a camera, you should be more than happy. The phone packs a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash module. It supports standard features like gesture capture, face detection, smile detection, face beauty model, panorama, and HDR. It can shoot videos at 720p at 30 frames per second. The phone also packs a 2 MP front camera for selfies and video chat. The quality of the selfies will not be that good but will still work in some cases.

The phone supports 2G and 3G bands. It can connect to the mobile internet via Edge, GPRS, and 3G. For other communication options, it has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. The website claims that the phone support Infrared and NFC as well which seems unrealistic. It uses microUSB v2.0 port for wired connectivity. The phone comes with a 3.5mm audio jack with FM support.

Other features

The phone runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow. It is available in three color options that are White, Yellow, and Grey. It packs Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery that can give up to 7 hours of talk time and up to 270 hours of standby time. The phone comes with 2 years manufacturing warranty for phone and 1-year warranty for headphone, charger, and battery.

There are still a lot of questions that raises doubt about this phone. First of all the information about the company is missing from the website. Secondly, there is CoD option available which is problematic as you will not have anything in hand if the company decides not to deliver phone or return the money. Moreover, most of the customers, if book the phone may not even care about the Rs.500/- spent on the phone in case the company fails to deliver the phone as per promise in 22-28 days. The overall scene looks suspicious, and only future can tell if the company is genuine or not.
