Xiaomi launched limited edition Mi MIX with nearly bezel-less display

The privately owned Chinese mobile manufacturer Xiaomi has come up with a beautiful phone Mi Note 2. During the event, the company did not stop at just there. It also launched ‘The dream phone’ Mi Mix smartphone. The Mi Mix has been designed in collaboration with the famous French Designer Phillipe Stark. The limited edition phone is up for pre-orders now and will go on sale on November 4th, 2016. On the basis of RAM and storage, the phone will come in two variants.

The first one has 4 GB RAM coupled with 128 GB storage capacity and has the MRP of CNY 3499 which roughly makes Rs.34500/-. The second variant is with 6 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage capacity and has the MRP of CNY 3999 which roughly makes Rs.39500/-. The higher version of the phone also carries 18K gold trim on the rear camera and fingerprint sensor.

Features of Xiaomi Mi Mix

The main highlights of this premium phone include a nearly bezel-less display with curved edges on the top. The company claims that it has 91.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. The phone comes with a ceramic body and has a piezoelectric acoustic ceramic earpiece speaker. It also packs the ultrasonic proximity sensor rather than the traditional front-facing infrared sensor. Xiaomi mentioned in its statement that the front camera is 50 percent smaller than the regular phones and is located at the bottom right corner of the phone.

Display

The phone packs a 6.4-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with the screen resolution 2040 x 1080 pixels. It has the pixel density of approx 362 ppi.

Processor and memory

The phone packs a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 chipset with a quad-core processor clocked at different values. The first 2 x Kryo cores are clocked at 2.35 GHz while the remaining 2 x Kryo cores are clocked at 1.6 GHz. It also packs Adreno 530 GPU for better graphics and gaming experience. As mentioned above, it comes in two different variants based on the memory and internal storage capacity. There is no option to expand the memory and the user has to rely on cloud storage for extra space.

Optics

The Xiaomi Mi Mix comes with 16 MP rear camera with aperture f/2.0 and dual-tone LED flash module. It supports features like phase detection autofocus, EIS, touch focus, face detection, geo-tagging, HDR, and panorama. The rear camera can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 2160p at 30 frames per second. It can also shoot slow motion videos at a maximum resolution of 720p at 120 frames per second. The phone packs a 5 MP front camera as well for selfies and video chat.

Communication

The phone supports Dual SIM connectivity and can hold a Nano SIM in each slot. It can connect to 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE bands. For other connectivity options, it has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and supports Wi-Fi direct as well for wireless file sharing without the internet. It also supports Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS. The Xiaomi Mi Mix can be used as a hotspot for sharing internet connection. It has NFC chipset for mobile payment and device connectivity. Xiaomi Mi Mix packs a standard 3.5mm audio jack and uses Type-C 1.0 reversible connector for wired connectivity.

Other features

The Xiaomi Mi Mix has Fingerprint sensor on the back panel along with an accelerometer, gyro, compass, proximity and barometer sensors for better user control. It runs on Android 6.0 marshmallow. It packs a Non-removable Li-Ion 4400 mAh battery. The dimensions of the phone are 158.8 x 81.9 x 7.9mm and it weighs 209 grams. It supports active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. The phone is available in Black color only.
