The privately owned Chinese company Xiaomi deals in a lot of different consumer electronics products. It has expanded its roots in a lot of niche including TVs, mobile phones, tablets, air purifiers and much more. Xiaomi is famous for flash sales of its products. India has been a great market for the company has according to the claims made by Xiaomi; it has sold over a million of devices in a matter of 18 days this year. The company has recently launched the successor of Mi Note 1 which was launched in January 2015. The new handset has been floating around the internet with a lot of speculations for quite some time now.
Dubbed as Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the phone will be available in two variants for the Chinese market and one variant for the global market. The first variant with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage for Chinese market has the MRP of CNY 2799. The second variants with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB memory have the MRP of CNY 3299. The Global variant with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage has the MRP of CNY 3499. The Global variant comes with universal LTE support that means it can connect to LTE bands all around the world.
It will be available in Glacial Silver and Piano Black color options. It’s one of the main highlights is the use of both front and back 3D curved glass. The feature provides the Mi Note 2 a dual-edge curved display like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Xiaomi is calling it a two-sided curved display.

The phone features a 5.7-inch Flexible OLED display with 16 M colors and screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The screen-to-body ratio is approx 77.2 percent. The display comes with Sunlight Display Pro for better visibility in bright light and exclusive reading mode that comes in handy while checking books.
Processor and memory
The phone comes with a powerful Snapdragon 821 chipset with a quad-core processor clocked at 2.35 GHz. It is available in different variants based on memory as mentioned above. The phone does not provide any option to increase the storage capacity. You have to rely on higher storage model or on a cloud server.
Optics is one the most prominent selling point of this phone. It comes with a 22.56 MP rear camera with the high-resolution IMX318 sensor and Dual-tone LED flash module. It supports a lot of features like 4K video recording, video IS, autofocus, touch focus, face detection, smile detection, geo-tagging, panorama, and HDR. The phone comes with a dedicated 3-axis Gyroscope sensor for the camera that allows features like high-speed jitter detection and real-time compensation. It also packs an 8 MP front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. The rear camera can shoot videos at a maximum 4K resolution as well as in slow motion.
On the communication front, the global variant of the phone has LTE support for every band used. It can connect to 2G, 3G, CDMA and 4G LTE bands. For other communication options, it has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 also has NFC for mobile payments along with Mi-Pay support.
The phone runs on Android platform. It comes with 4070 mAh battery with Quick charge 3.0 support. It comes with a fingerprint scanner, Proximity, Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Ambient light sensors for better user control.
